Bishop Linwood Nesbitt, is the Senior Pastor, and overseer, of New Covenant Holiness Church, located at 1020 Dawson Street, Wilmington, NC. He has preached and taught the gospel of Jesus Christ to his New Covenant family for the past eighteen years. He was appointed to this post by the great people of New Covenant, after the passing of his father, who had pastored the church prior to his tenure. Bishop Nesbitt never allowed the grass to grow under his feet, once taking over as head of the flock, in his father’s stead. He immediately sought the Lord, on the future of his growing congregation, and the Lord gave him the vision to built a new sanctuary. The vision came to life, with a 1.9 million dollar edifice, that beautifies the downtown area of Wilmington. The doors of this new church opened on April 29th, 2001, with much praise and worship, with all the Glory going to God! This was only the first vision that came to pass in the year of 2001. God fulfilled the second promise on August 25th, 2001, when Pastor Nesbitt, was consecrated, to the prestigious position of Bishop. Bishop Nesbitt has been walking in the anointing of Bishop for six years now, and carries the mantle with much honor, grace, and nobility. Bishop Nesbitt is an humble man of God, who loves the Lord with all his heart. God has also given him a heart to love God's people. He covers his flock with pray, shields them by fasting, and feeds them with God's holy word. He watches over them with the love of a protective and loving Father, with a burning desire to see them grow in Christ, fulfill their God given destiny, and be rapture ready when the Master comes. He is a blessing to the Christian Community in the City of Wilmington as well, for he seeks the best for every Pastor, and every church, networking and fellowshipping with them to bring unity and togetherness to the body of Christ.
Bishop Nesbitt has always had a heart to win souls to the kingdom of heaven. He believes in the great commission that he is to go into all the world and preach the gospel, so he goes where the Lord sends him to preach the good news of Jesus Christ. This hunger to expand the kingdom of God has taken him from the streets of Wilmington, NC, to teach and minister as far away as Jamaica, the Ivory Coast, and Liberia. He also financially supports church building in the United States, Liberia, and the Ivory Coast. Bishop Nesbitt's work in the foreign ministry, is extensive, and is making a direct impact in lifting up the name of Christ. He sends monthly donations and goods, to many Missions, and supports the Missionaries in the Mission field, who desperately depend on his patronage. His church of New Covenant also provides financial support to two Orphanages, one in Jamaica, and the other in Liberia, therefore providing care, shelter, and food to many needy children. He also supports a school in Liberia, educating our future Christian leaders. Bishop Nesbitt keeps his church of New Covenant busy in Wilmington as well, with church outreaches in the disadvantaged project areas of Wilmington, such as Nesbitt Court, Houston Moore, Hillcrest, and the Jervay Community. One big project that benefits these areas, is 'The Annual Christmas Festival', at Lakeside High School that provides food, toys, and goods to underprivileged children and their families. This event draws and benefits hundreds of people from all over the city. God always honors this event by Saving souls, making it all worthwhile. Bishop Nesbitt wrote his first book, "I want what God wants " The anointing is a seldom traveled road to wealth, which came out Summer 2007, so he can now add author and writer to the many gifts God has given him. The book has been a blessing to all that have read it. The Lord has prepared him for the ministry his entire life. To increase his learning, of the word of God, and how to more effectively lead God’s people, Bishop Nesbitt was certified in Adult Christian Education from Moody Bible Institute. He earned his Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in Pastoral Ministry, from the International Bible College and Seminary. He also has a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Covenant Christian College. Bishop Nesbitt has his Masters of Arts in Christian Education from Word of Faith Christian College. He has been awarded his Honorary Doctor of Divinity, from the United Christian College in Goldsboro, North Carolina. His most recent educational achievement is his Doctorate of Ministry in Theological Studies from Word of Faith Christian College & Graduate School.
Bishop Nesbitt established, and presides over an alliance of 102 churches, under the umbrella of Covenant Christian Faith International Fellowship. The alliance started with (3) founding churches, and has grown under the direction of Bishop Nesbitt to (102) churches, in the United States, Caribbean Islands, Liberia, and the Ivory Coast. This fellowship also provides support for it’s Pastors, their members, and all churches worldwide, that are in need of the CCFIF, and it’s services. Bishop Nesbitt has been the Prelate of this great fellowship of churches for the past six years. This fellowship gives Bishop Nesbitt an even greater opportunity to witness and win souls to Jesus Christ. It also puts him in the position of setting the focus, and course, of many churches in the future. Bishop Nesbitt is also the Vice President of Greater Harvest International Fellowship, Inc., which is headquartered in Raleigh, NC. He also serves as Vice President to the Bishop of West Africa. Most recently, since April 2007, Bishop Nesbitt has been an active Chaplain with the State Of North Carolina Highway Patrol, and also serves the Wilmington Police Department as Chaplain. He also is the founder and President of Covenant Christian College, an accredited Bible college where students may earn their associate, or Bachelor degree in Biblical Studies. He is the founder and CEO of CCEDI, Inc. a faith based non profit community service organization, that does many wonderful works in the City of Wilmington. More important to Bishop Nesbitt, than any other post, is his role as husband, and father. He has been married to the beautiful Pastor Eria Nesbitt, for past 31 years. God blessed this beautiful union, with two lovely daughters, Regina Lynette , and Natalie Tramaine. His most recent joy has been the birth of his first grandchild, a beautiful baby girl named, Daysia. Bishop Nesbitt loves the Lord, and governs his home, with that same kind of undying love, and heartfelt commitment. God can use this man of God, with a servant's heart, and a mind to do God's will. We look forward to seeing even greater works done by this great man of God, under God’s anointing and direction.
